'Maybeso' too fast for Sanford foes

Maybesomaybenot outsprinted a field of fast 2-year-olds to the lead and never looked back en route to a 1 1/2-length victory over the late-running Nacho Saint in Sunday's $150,000 Sanford at Saratoga.

Rachel likely to stay home next time

Rachel Alexandra returned to her Saratoga barn on Sunday morning, a day after her victory in the $400,000 Lady's Secret at Monmouth Park, and indications are that the Grade 1 Personal Ensign Aug. 29 at the Spa could be her next race.

Giant Moon at his best for Shipman

If his last two races are any indication, Giant Moon appears to be back to the form that made him the champion New York-bred 2-year-old of 2007 and a graded stakes winner. If that is indeed the case, Giant Moon figures to be very tough in Monday's $70,000 Evan Shipman Stakes for statebreds at Saratoga.

Evening Jewel completes Cassidy sweep

Trainer Jim Cassidy completed a sweep of the opening weekend's graded stakes races at Del Mar when favored Evening Jewel captured the Grade 2, $150,000 San Clemente Handicap for 3-year-old fillies on turf on Sunday. One day earlier, Cassidy sent out The Usual Q.T. to a victory in the Grade 1 Eddie Read.

Castellano wins 5 in a row at Saratoga

Jockey Javier Castellano rode five consecutive winners at Saratoga on Sunday, sweeping the second through sixth races.
